Port Blair, May 12: Shri. Ajoy Bairagi, State President-BJP, A&N Islands has once again taken up the issue of operationalizing/ commissioning the undersea Optical Fiber Cable (CANI Project) in PAN India rates, with Shri. Ravi Shankar Prasad, Hon’ble Union Minister for Electronic & IT and Communication, Govt. of India.
In a written communication dated 12th May, 2020, addressed to the Hon’ble Minister, the State President-BJP, A & N Islands has requested for immediate operationalizing/ commissioning of the undersea Optical Fiber Cable (CANI Project) in PAN India rates by highlighting the following points:-
- Lack of proper internet facility is hampering the students to undertake online classes.
- Aarogya Setu App is not functional due to poor internet.
- During this hour of distress, especially considering the isolated geographical location of our Islands, in order have better communication, fast internet is very much required.
- Use of online money transactions through debit/credit cards for purchasing can greatly diminish the crowding at Banks/ATMs.
He has further requested for operationalizing/commissioning the undersea Optical Fiber Cable (CANI Project) in PAN India rates.
