Port Blair, June 8: The Member of Parliament, A&N Islands, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma has taken up the matter with the Director of State Transport, A&N Administration requesting him for extension of validity of fitness of the various categories of vehicles for three months w.e.f.01.06.2020.

He stated that the validity of fitness of various categories of vehicles has been expired during the lockdown period of COVID-19 and they did not get extension of fitness from the STS department across A&N Islands. Besides this, many vehicles repairing were at workshops and due to lockdown, these vehicles could not get repaired as workshops were also closed during the period of lockdown. 

The MP therefore requested the Director of the State Transport that the validity of fitness for such vehicles, which expired/expiring during the lockdown period of COVID-19 may be considered for deemed extended for further period of 03 months commencing from the COVID-19 Phase-I of unlock down i.e. 01.06.2020 so that validity of fitness can be done by the owners during this period after attending other required formalities.
