Port Blair, June 10: In order to prevent the outbreak of COVID-19 in Port Blair City, PBMC has been taking the following initiatives with an active participation of Elected Representatives:-

Inspection of Gandhi Market: An inspection was carried out at Gandhi Market by Shri N.K. Udhaya Kumar, Chairperson, PBMC, Smti Vinita Malhotra, Chairperson (WTP &I), Shri Dharmendra Narayan, Councillor Ward No. 17, Secretary, PBMC, Superintending Engineer, PBMC and Officials of PBMC. Secretary PBMC directed the Executive Engineer (Works) to complete the left out finishing works within a period of 10 days time and invite bids for letting out the shops on rental basis.

Inspection by the Member of Parliament at Burning Ghat, Junglighat: The Member of Parliament, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Secretary, PBMC and Shri I.P. Singh, Councillor, Ward No. 7 has inspected the Burning Ghat at Junglighat wherein Hon’ble Member of Parliament requested council to renovate the entire Burning Ghat Premises and funds could be supplemented through MPLADs. The MP suggested that by keeping public safety in the mind immediately dismantle the gas chimney, which has been non-functional since 2015.

Secretary PBMC, stated that the entire area will be renovated by incorporating elements such as landscaping, a separate entry for wood transport, changing rooms with wash room, Renovation of existing drain and well along with public conveniences.
