Member of Parliament Puts Forward Suggestions in the Larger interest of Islanders

Port Blair, June 11: The meeting of Telecom Advisory Committee, Andaman & Nicobar Circle under the Chairmanship of Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament, A&N Islands was held on 10.06.2020 at the conference Hall of BSNL, Bhavan, Port Blair.  In the meeting, Chief General Manager and other senior officials of A&N Telecom Circle was present.  During meeting, the Member of Parliament being a chairman has put many suggestions in the larger interest of the Islanders for overall development in the Information Technology in these Islands:

(i)    To start the Optical Fiber Cable (OFC) by the end of June 2020 so that the general public especially the students get the benefit of online classes etc.

(ii)    To complete the loop of Optical Fiber Cable by connecting it from Diglipur to Kolkatta as one side is already connected from Chennai to Port Blair and other seven Islands.

(iii)    To work out a strategy for creation of employment opportunity for thousands of unemployed youths of these Islands in the I.T. Sector.

(iv) To decrees the tariff of Internet and bring it at par with the rest of the country.

(v)  To connect Optical Fiber Cable to Saheed Dweep as it is one of the major tourist destination and also benefits for the general public of Saheed Dweep.

(vi)  To provide mobile connection facilities by erecting suitable towers at various places such as Chowra Island, Harminder Bay and other remote places in these Islands where Mobile facilities are not available.

(vii) Since more and more private players are getting in telephone industry, the BSNL must be more people friendly.
