Andaman & Nicobar Police Study Circle Conducts 12th Discussion on Policing

Port Blair, June 11: The Andaman & Nicobar Police has been proactively initiating many projects/programmes in order to make Policing effective, professional and efficient. Subsequently, Andaman & Nicobar Police has taken a step forward and initiated a Police Study Circle (PSC) program, which is a research and analysis circle that focuses on critical issues in policing. PSC explores best practices on fundamental issues such as developing community policing, problem-oriented policing, using technologies to deliver better Police services to the community and evaluating crime reduction strategies. So far, 11 discussions were conducted on various topics which were chaired or moderated by the High Court Judges, Chairperson NCW, Additional Director (IB), Joint Secretary (Cabinet Secretariat) & other eminent personalities.

On 11/06/2020, keeping in view of the prevailing pandemic situation, 12th Discussion was conducted at the Conference Hall of Police Headquarters on the topic ‘Policing: A dialogue with web of Human relationships’, which was held in presence of worthy Director General of Police, Andaman & Nicobar Police, Shri. Dependra Pathak, IPS & other Senior Officers  and during the discussion various points i.e Rule of law & field Policing, Developing clarity on role of Police in Society, Informal & indirect approach to precipitate social anomalies, Informal Policing & Society, Instant Justice Mindset & Police, Police behavior & response towards people and Role of Intelligence in developing dialogue were emphasized upon. At last, the event concluded with vote of thanks proposed by Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District.
