Port Blair, June 23: Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament, A&N Islands has requested the Secretary (Tourism), A&N Administration to allow small tourist boats for conducting their tourism activates at Water Sports Complex, Port Blair.
He emphasises that due to lockdown on COVID-19 pandemic, all the tourism activates has been suspended since 19th March, 2020 and the livelihood of the persons engaged in this sector who are large number than other sectors has been affected and grate loss sustained to the youths working in these boats and also the owners of tourist boats who are facing financial constrains for repayment of the loans in instalment basis to the banks and upkeep maintenance of boats etc. Therefore, the MP requested the Administration to allow small tourist boats to conduct their tourism activities which can also be availed by the local people at Water Sport Complex, Port Blair so that the livelihood of the persons engaged in the sector can be restored and boat owners can also able to repay their instalment to the banks against the loan.
