Port Blair, June 24: Continuing its action against bootleggers and illegal sale of liquor in South Andaman District, the South Andaman District Special Police Team have seized 118 bottles of IMFL and arrested three bootleggers on 24th June, 2020 and three Excise cases registered at PS Aberdeen & PS Chatham respectively.

With a aim to eradicate the bootlegging menace and resale of IMFL, the South Andaman District Special Police Team comprising SI M. Abdul Rasheed, ASI Surya Narayan, Constables Bipul Halder, M. Santosh Kumar and HG/C. Selvaraj of PS Chatham have conducted raids in Aberdeen and Chatham jurisdiction headed by Inspector Sanjay Kumar, SHO PS Aberdeen and SI Gaurav Banerjee, SHO PS Chatham.

In different raids conducted at Junglighat area, 22 bottles of IMFL was seized from the bootleggers namely K. Pandian (23) yrs. R/o Dairy Farm near Shiv Temple and Gaju Munda (23) yrs. R/o Brookshabad. Similarly, another raid conducted near Community Hall, Anarkali, 96 bottles of IMFL alongwith a vehicle bearing Regn. No. AN01 F 2197 were seized from Amar (44) yrs. R/o Uppar Basti, Namunaghar and arrest was effected after observing codal formalities. Cases under Excise Regulations have been registered against the accused persons.

The entire raid took place under the supervision of Shri. Narra Chaitanya, IPS, SDPO (South Andaman) and under the overall direction and supervision of Shri. Manoj C., IPS, Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District. The general public is requested to share information pertaining to any crime or other illegal activities to police at 100, 112, & 03192-233077. The identity of the informant will be kept secret.
