Port Blair, July 14: Volunteer for Indian and U.S Consulate General Chennai in association with Nia Mazil and Katradi organized a workshop on Awareness programme of COVID-19 Home quarantine surveillance on 11th July 2020 at Wimberly Gunj panchayat community Hall.

Dr.Vazeem Iqbal, Founding member of Volunteer of India explained in detail about Volunteer of India and its theme transformational Sports uses sports to engage with communities on important themes  like gender, diversity, environment and the current issues COVID 19 and volunteerism.

Dr. Lustin Tee Leacock of Primary Health Center, Wimberly Gunj, enlightened the volunteers about the lofty mission the volunteers had to embark. He insisted that the Volunteers should maintain personal safety first while serving the Home quarantine during this COVID-19 pandemic. He stressed upon the need for wearing masks, Face gear, gloves and sanitizing of daily use object, equipment and gadgets.

Altogether 50 Volunteers who had registered themselves as Volunteers participated in the programme. The volunteers would provide voluntary service to the home quarantine family in coordination with the health care officials under the guidance of Andaman and Nicobar Administration. Shri SSM Anis Ibrahim, SI, In-Charge, Police Outpost, Wimberly Gunj, also addressed the Volunteers and exhorts theme to perform their duties as volunteers with sheer commitment.

Shri .P. Abdul Basheer, Founder of Nai Manzil distribute the VFI ID cards COVID-19 production kits and Compilation Certificate of the workshop to all volunteers, He motivated the Volunteers and congratulated them for taking up such a holy mission, which was the best service for humankind itself.

Shri Abdul Rehman, Shri Mohammed Shareef, Shri Simpson (All Social workers) attended the programme with great enthusiasm and passion. Shri Javed Ahmed, Panchayat Secretary coordinated with the officials of the NGOs that participated in the programme.
