Port Blair, July 30: Rapid rise in the COVID-19 cases has been observed recently in the UT and majority of them are through contacts. In order to contain the spread of COVID-19, the Directorate of Transport has decided to discontinue all transactions related to Registration of Motor Vehicles including collection of road tax, fitness, renewal of registration, issuance of NOC etc. and issuance of new as well as renewal of driving licence and new learners licence w.e.f. 31-07-2020 temporarily.  

The receipt of application for new permit / NOC, renewal and transfer of Permit and other transactions in STA has also been temporarily discontinued till further orders. The Transport Directorate has informed the general public that the validity of fitness, permit (all types), Learner’s Licence, Driving License, Registration or any other concerned document whose extension of validity could not or not likely to be granted due to lock-down and which has expired since February 1, 2020 or will expire till 30th September 2020, the same would be treated as valid till 30th Sept. .2020, hence no penalty/ fine will be imposed in such cases.
