Port Blair, Sept. 10: A big catch as it should be mentioned, the South Andaman Police has been successful in seizing 990 gms of ‘Methamphetamine’ illicit drug from two drug peddlers. The seized narcotics is estimated to be worth Rs. 1.5 Crores.

Keeping in line with the philosophy of zero tolerance against the sale of narcotics drugs in the South Andaman District, the South Andaman District Special Police Squad comprising SI Manoj Lall, ASI Surya Narayan, PC/2885 Bipul Halder, PC/2636 M. Santosh Kumar, PC/1777 Ratika and HG(R)/72 Selvaraj headed by SI Gaurav Banerjee, SHO PS Chatham seized the illicit drug from two drug peddlers. 

On 9th Sept. information was received that two persons namely Pandi Velu @ Pandi R/o Garacharma and Raqib @ Sameer r/o School Line, Ranchi Basti were arriving at Megapode seashore in a scooty bearing reg. no. AN01 L1018 to set a deal of selling narcotics drugs. On reaching at Megapode seashore, their vehicle has been stopped and rider of the vehicle has been identified as Pandi Velu and pillion rider as Raqib. Both of them intercepted at Megapode seashore by police team. Their vehicle was searched and on searching 940 gms of Methamphetamine was found from the vehicle’s Dikki and on personal search of Raqib @ Sameer found 50 gms. of Methamphetamine wrapped in news paper. The above items were seized and accused identified as Pandi Velu @ Pandi S/o Shri A. Singaram (32) yrs pvt.Driver R/o Garacharma near TTI and Raqib @ Sameer S/o Shri Salim Khan (23) yrs pvt.driver R/o School line, Ranchi Basti were arrested on the spot under relevant sections of law. During the interrogation, it was found that the deal was being executed through T.R. Murugeshan, Proprietor of Balaji Jewelers, Gurudwara Lane, Aberdeen Bazar. A case under NDPS Act, 1985 has been registered against the accused persons at PS Chatham and investigation of the case is on.

The entire raid took place under the supervision of Shri Narra Chaitanya, IPS, SDPO (South Andaman) and under the overall direction and supervision of Shri Manoj C., IPS, Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District.
