Suggests DHS to Construct Transit Accommodation for Attenders, Waiting Room at GB Pant through MPLAD Support

Port Blair, Sept. 10: The Member of Parliament, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma accompanied by the Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, Director of Health Service, Director, ANIIMS, Additional District Magistrate, Sub-Divisional Magistrate visited GB Pant Hospital, Port Blair on 08th September, 2020.  During his visit, he interacted with the in-patients of all the medical and surgical wards and ascertained about their wellbeing and problems if any being faced while undergoing treatment in the hospital.

The MP also enquired from Director of Health Service about the treatment being rendered to the COVID-19 patients admitted in the hospital. During the course of visit, he requested the DHS to provide land within the premises of the GB Pant Hospital suitable for constructing transit accommodation out of MPLAD fund for stay of the attendants accompanying the patients coming from inter Islands.  The Director was also requested to provide land available in front of Dialysis unit and ICU at GB Pant Hospital for construction of a rest room with library facilities for the use of patients waiting for their turn for dialysis and also for the attendants of patients undergoing treatment in the hospital. The Director of Health Services in principle agreed to provide the land for both purpose.

On the same day, the Member of Parliament along with the team of officials visited COVID-19 centre at ITI complex, Dollygunj and enquired about the treatment being provided to the COVID-19 patients admitted in the COVID centre.

On 9th September Sharma accompanied by the Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, Additional District Magistrate, Sub-Divisional Magistrate has visited Community Health Centre, Bambooflat and interacted with the inpatients and out patents and enquired about the difficulty and short fall if any experienced in medical facilities and treatment being rendered to the patients.

In view of large number of patients attending GB Pant Hospital for dialysis, the demand was placed by the public for setting up of a Dialysis unit at PHC Bambooflat for the convenient of Dialysis patients residing in these areas as they face lot of difficulties to visit GB Pant Hospital by undertaking a long journey.

The MP was also informed about the non-functioning of X-Ray machine installed in the hospital. The MP assures that their demands for Dialysis Unit and repair of X-Ray machine will be solved through the Directorate of Health Services as early as possible.

Thereafter, on the same day the Member of Parliament along with the officials accompanied also visited Primary Health Centre, Wimberlygunj where he interacted with the patients. It was brought to his notice that the X-Ray machine installed in the hospital is non-functional. He assured to get the X-Ray machine repaired by the department at the earliest possible.
