Port Blair, Sept. 14: The Member of Parliament, A&N Islands, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma today visited felicitated the MSS team for their selfless service during the major fire accident that was reported at Prothrapur on 9th Sept. 2020. The fire was so huge that the A&N Fire Services in spite of all attempts had ran short of man and materials to overpower. The timely intervention of local youth volunteers with the support of MSS Water Suppliers came as a blessing in disguise especially when it came to stopping the fire from spreading to the residential areas attached to the fire accident site (Andaman Pencil Wood Works).

The MSS team upon the call made by the residents had supplied 28 tankers of water, non-stop to the fire services, which was a great help in stopping the fire from spreading. The cost of 28 tankers is estimated to be approximately Rupees one Lakh but the MSS team never accepted any money for their services in the time of crisis.

Appreciating the efforts of MSS team, the Member of Parliament, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma today visited the office of MSS and appreciated the staff and management for their selfless service towards the society. An appreciation letter was handed over to the owner of MSS, Shri Siva Prakash.

Speaking to Andaman Chronicle, Siva Prakash said that the company had come forward with their men and materials sensing the gravity of the situation. We never expected anything in return though the residents had offered to pay for the services. We had to do it as a responsibility towards the society, he added.
