Port Blair, Oct. 19: Central Crime Station in its continuous effort and crackdown against illegal Narcotics in A&N Islands, has arrested 02 drug peddlers.

On 17/10/2020, information was received by Insp. Mahesh Yadav about an old age person travelling from Kolkata by private airlines who was carrying contraband in a large quantity, which was conveyed to Dy. SP(CID) and on his direction a team comprising Inspr. Mahesh Kr. Yadav, SHO PS CCS, SI T. Dilla Rao, ASI Vijay Shankar, Constable K. Rajendran, Raja Rao, P. K. Mondal and Mohd. Imran of PS Central Crime Station was formed and rushed to VS International Airport, Lamba Line. The raiding team intercepted the old age person near the parking and on asking, his details he disclosed his name as Ganesh Halder S/o Late Madhurja Halder (62)yrs R/o 23K, Panchanantala Road, Sarat Bose Road, Kolkata, West Bengal. During frisking & search the raiding team recovered 4.030 Kg illicit ganja from his possession. On questioning accused Ganesh Halder, told that he conspired to purchase ganja with one Babul Ch. Das, Auto driver R/o Ferrargunj to sell at lucrative price owing to high demand in these Islands. Later, accused Babul Chandar Das S/o Shri Sushen Chandar Das (40 yrs.) R/o Ferrargunj was arrested. The raid was headed by Sh. Jagdev Singh Yadav, DANIPS, Dy.SP (CID) under the overall supervision of Sh. Anant Mittal, IPS, SP(CID).              

The Andaman & Nicobar Police has a strict zero tolerance policy and is taking all possible steps in making these islands free from anti-social activities and is keeping strict vigil to stop gambling, smuggling and proliferation of narcotics substances in these Islands. General Public is once again requested to pass on credible information on narcotics substances, illegal sale of liquor, gambling or any illegal activity on the telephone numbers: 233307, 232586, 100, & 9474233832. The identity of the informer will be kept secret.
