Port Blair, Nov. 16: The meeting of the District Development Coordination & Monitoring Committee (DDMC/DISHA) of the South Andaman was held in the conference hall of the Zilla Parishad (SA) under the Chairmanship of Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, A & N Islands. Shri Suneel Anchipaka, IAS, DC (SA), Shri Yash Chaudhary IAS, CEO, Zilla Parishad and representatives of all concerned line Departments were also present.

At the outset, DC (SA) welcomed all present in the meeting and invited the Departments to present the current status of their respective Central sponsored schemes and urged the members of the house to come up with issues being faced in the implementation of these schemes.

During the presentation, the Hon’ble Member of Parliament enquired about the action taken report of the meeting held on 18.02.2020, and raised various issues such as like inclusion of local produce i.e., coconut, fish and indigenous fruits in the Mid-Day Meals scheme to boost local employment, posting of sufficient science stream teachers in remote locations, setting up of specialised Divyang Schools in the Islands and exploring the employment opportunities in the wake of the completion of the CANI project. He also raised issues related to health services in the islands such as non-availability of modern ambulances in Community Health Centres/Primary Health Centres and posting of sufficient Specialists/ Surgeons in tribal as well as other far flung areas.

The Hon’ble Member of Parliament urged all the implementing Departments to make all out efforts in a time bound manner for effective/efficient implementation of all the flagship schemes so as to ensure that the targets are achieved and benefits should reach to the poorest of the poor at the earliest.

The Hon’ble Member of Parliament expressed his deep satisfaction about the efforts of Administration to tackle this pandemic and complemented all departments for their tireless efforts.
