Day 4 Dwells on ‘Strengthening Cooperation Among Cooperatives’

Port Blair, Nov 17: The ongoing 67th All India Cooperative Week Celebration is being celebrated from 17th Nov, 2020 at the premises of A&N State Cooperative Union. Shri. Abdul Rasheed, ARCS, RCS Department graced the occasion as the Chief Guest in presence of various Apex and Primary Level Cooperatives.

Welcoming the chief guest and the gathering, Shri. P.G. Paul, General Secretary, A&N State Cooperative Union informed about the main theme of the cooperative week i.e. “Covid Pandemic- Atmanirbhar Bharat –Cooperatives”. He also dwelt on the day’s topic “Strengthening Cooperation Among Cooperatives”.

The Chief Guest, Shri. Abdul Rasheed while addressing the gathering said that today’s topic is one of the Cooperative principles, which means Cooperatives serve their members most effectively and strengthens the cooperative movement by working together. He informed that the key motto for the success of societies is Cooperative Principle, Value and Ethics.

Shri. Suresh Babu, Principal, RGCTC also spoke on the topic “Strengthening Cooperation among Cooperatives”. He said that the Cooperative principles play an integral role in the development of cooperatives and give clear guidance on how cooperatives should operate. He further informed that the cooperative is the only alternative development model, which can support its members.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri. Swaran Singh, Director, A&N State Cooperative Union said that the Andaman & Nicobar State Cooperative Bank plays a unique and vital role for cooperatives as well as for General Public to provide banking services right from Diglipur at extreme North to Campbell Bay the extreme South of the Union Territory of Andaman & Nicobar Islands. He also informed that there are 46 PACS in A&N Islands which provide services to its members.
