Port Blair, Jan 24: Central Crime Station in its continuous crackdown against illegal Narcotics trade in A&N Islands tracked a parcel containing Ganja clandestinely concealed in old clothes on 22/01/2021. Three drug peddlers were arrested in connection with the consignment.

Acting on a specific information from reliable source that on 22/01/2021 one person Ashish Godwin, R/o Prothrapur will be coming to Head Post Office, Aberdeen Bazaar to collect a parcel which may contain ganja,  a raiding team comprising ASI Vijay Shankar, Head Constable Sanjay Kujur, Constable K. Rajendran, Raja Rao and LHG(R) Seema Kujur laid a trap near Head Post Office and intercepted Ashish Godwin and his accomplice C. Jaganath Rao, 26 Yrs, R/o Old Pahargaon and recovered 426 gms of illicit ganja from their possession. Later, during investigation third accused, connected with the case, S. Shiva Raj, R/o Guptapara was also arrested. All the three accused persons were arrested under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act-1985.

The raid was supervised by Sh Jagdev Singh Yadav,  DANIPS, Dy.SP (CID)  under the overall supervision of Sh Shivendra Kant Tewari, IPS, SP(CID).       

The Central Crime Station of CID unit, Andaman & Nicobar Police is taking all possible steps in making these Islands free from drugs and is keeping strict vigil over smuggling and proliferation of narcotics substance in these Islands. General Public have been requested to pass on credible information on narcotics substance, illegal sale of liquor, gambling or any illegal activity on the telephone numbers: 233307, 232586, 100, & 9474290250. The informer will be suitably rewarded and his/her identity will be kept secret.
