It is a matter of pride that “Vaccination Festival - Tika Utsav” is being observed in this Union Territory between April 11 to 14, 2021 to inoculate the maximum number of eligible people against COVID -19.

I, along with my 75 yrs old mother and 47 yrs old sister have got vaccinated at Port Blair and are all healthy.

All eligible people should come forward and get vaccinated. If not vaccinated, one can be prone to COVID and act as source of infection for islanders. So, instead of being a threat to your own family and society I earnestly plead with all the people above 45 yrs to come forward and get vaccinated. Departments should fervently ensure to encourage all eligible government employees to come forward in this period by 14th April.

There has been a surge in the positive cases across the country in the last few days as we have also gone up from 3 to 71 cases.  In wake of this scenario, I appeal to all the people of this UT to follow COVID-appropriate behavior.  These include wearing of mask in public places, frequently washing of hands, using hand sanitizers, social distancing i.e.  “Do Gaj Ki Doori” and Vaccination. This will help us prevent any adversity.

The Mantra of “Davai bhi, Kadai bhi” is to be followed to successfully fight the pandemic. The directions have been issued to concerned authorities for appropriate action on irresponsible people, who do not follow Covid protocols and behavior.

The testing will be increased and the tracing will be stepped up and incoming flights will be screened.  The ultimate aim behind all these measures is to ensure the safety of people of these islands.

I further appeal to the people of this Union Territory to extend their full and wholehearted cooperation with the efforts of Administration while complying with COVID-appropriate behavior in true letter and spirit so that together, we can successfully fight against this pandemic.
