Port Blair, April 19: Shri. Ajoy Bairagi, State President, Bharatiya Janata Party has written to the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration requesting him to declare Ram Navami as Public Holiday.

Bairagi mentioned that Ram Navami is not declared as a Public Holiday in spite of its great importance among the Hindu Community.

He further added that Ram Navami is part of spring Navratri and falls on the Ninth Day of Sukla Paksha in the Hindu Calendar month of Chaitra. The Festival indicates the victory of goodness over the evil and establishment of dharma to defeat adharma.

He said that there is a firm request from all corners of the Islands to declare 21st of April 2021 as Public Holiday for the occasion of Ram Navami and requested the Chief Secretary to look into the issue.
