Port Blair, April 21: The increasing number of corona positive cases in the entire country is quite alarming. Here in A&N Islands too, the number of positive cases being detected on a daily basis is increasing at a faster rate. Efforts are being mounted from all quarters to curb the rate of transmission.

To ensure the safety of the people of these Islands, the COVID vaccination drive is going on in full swing in different parts of the Islands. Today, 2256 doses of vaccines have been administered to the eligible beneficiaries by the health teams designated in different parts of the Islands, taking the total number of doses of vaccines administered so far to 92242.

For the benefit of the eligible citizens and to cover maximum people above 45+, the vaccination drive is being carried by the teams of the Health Department on all days of the week including Sundays and holidays. To facilitate the general public, facility for onsite registration has also been created for those who are not able to register their names on COWIN portal.

All Islanders have been appealed to follow appropriate COVID-19 behavior due to the increase in the number of COVID cases in A&N Islands. People have been informed that maintaining social distance, washing hands and face along with wearing face masks appropriately is the key to restrict the spread of COVID cases in Isles, a press release from DHS said.
