Port Blair, April 22: Shri M.L. Kampani, the first Lt. Governor of Andaman & Nicobar Islands breathed his last today at New Delhi at the age of 97.  He was considered as a good visionary and will be remembered as one of the best administrator the islands ever had. His bold initiatives for the construction of Andaman Trunk Road were part of history. The Govt. employees were also benefitted during his tenure as he supported their demand for extension of Special Allowance to local recruitees.

The demise of Shri ML Kampani has been mourned by many of the islanders and associations. The Non Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association has conveyed deep condolences at the death of Shri M.L.Kampani, a person affectionately remembered by the islanders.

Meanwhile, Shri. Ajoy Bairagi, State President, Bharatiya Janata Part has condoled the demise of the first Lt. Governor of Andaman & Nicobar Islands Shri. M.L Kampani.

M.L Kampani served as the First Lt. Governor of Andaman & Nicobar Islands from 1982 to 1985. M.L Kampani was the driving force who push started the development of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, said Bairagi.

Ajoy Bairagi has prayed to the Almighty for the soul of the departed to rest in peace and for strength to family members and friends during these difficult times.
