Port Blair, April 23: The President of Daily Newspaper Association of A & N Islands, Mr K Ganeshan on behalf of the association has expressed gratitude to the Chief Secretary of Andaman & Nicobar Administration, Shri Jitendra Narain for coming forward and addressing the Islanders through local media during a press conference organised on Thursday. In a statement to the President of DNA, ANI said that the move of the Chief Secretary shows his leadership skills and also exhibits his seriousness and commitment towards fighting the war against Covid-19.

“This also shows that he is willing to listen to public problems and committed to resolving them,” he said.

Such Press Conferences by the Chief Secretary involving senior officers of A & N Administration will instil a sense of confidence among the general public that the administration means welfare of the general public and is focused towards fighting the pandemic together.

Private dailies of Andaman & Nicobar Islands have been neglected prior to Jitendra Narayan assuming the charge of the Chief Secretary which had created a gap between Administration and the public. This time under the leadership of Mr Jitendra Narain things seem to be moving towards the better side. In a healthy democracy reaching out to the public and remaining open to media is the key to success.
