Instructions Issued to Line Departments to Ensure Basic Amenities are Not Deprived to People

Port Blair, May 15: The second wave of COVID-19 is proving to be more contagious and fatal and to contain the movement of people, complete lockdown has been imposed with effect from 15.05.2021 in the areas of Hopetown, Shorepoint, Bambooflat, Stewartgunj, Govindapuram, Nayapuram, Wimberlygunj, Kanyapuram, Mannarghat, Malappuram, Wright Myo and Shoal Bay under Ferrargunj Tehsil.

Shri Suneel Anchipaka, Deputy Commissioner (SA) along with SDM(SA) and AC(U/T) visited some of the above said villages to take first hand stock of the situation at ground level and arrangements that are being put in place to enforce the complete lockdown.

During the visit officials from various line departments providing essential services also accompanied the team. The DC(SA) issued directions to the officials to ensure that complete lockdown is to be maintained and no movement of person should be allowed except for emergency cases. He also directed them to ensure that basic amenities are not deprived to the people and necessary arrangements be made for the same.

The team of officials led by DC(SA) also visited the Forest Training School hostel, which has been converted into a Covid Care Centre at Wimberley Gunj. Taking stock of the situation at the Centre, he interacted with the Chief Medical Officer, paramedical and support staff. He inquired about the well-being of the patients and the issues faced by them. He lauded the overall arrangements being put in place in the Centre for the welfare of the patients and was also satisfied with the coordinated efforts of doctors and medical staff in carrying out such tremendous work in the field.

DC(SA) further appealed to the general public for their support and requested them to stay home for the safety of their family and society at large and also sought their co-operation in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic.
