Port Blair, July 30: After the launch of campaign, Save a Seed, Plant Trees campaign by Shri Jitendra Narain, the Chief Secretary last week, the Administration is working towards promoting this campaign among the children of CCIs in Port Blair.

Under the leadership of the Deputy Commissioner (SA), Shri Suneel Anchipaka along with SDM(SA), AC(U/T) and officials of District Child Protection Unit (SA), a plantation drive was conducted at Balika Niketan to mark the launching of plant, vegetables, fruits, flowers, community garden and save seeds campaign vision 2047. They interacted with the children and asked them to adopt one tree each to ingrain the culture of planting and saving trees. The main aim of the plantation of fruit bearing plants at Child Care Institutions is to develop healthy eating habits and food preference at an early age and engage children by motivating them to learn gardening and maintain a well-balanced food containing fruits and vegetables which would help to maintain a healthy weight.

The District Administration ensures to carry out such campaigns at Child Care Institutions, so that children of Child Care Institutions would be benefitted by maintaining a balanced diet that will keep them healthy and fit.
