Port Blair, Sept. 15: An Andaman Oxygenator (Portable Oxygen Concentrator) developed by ICMR scientist Dr. N Muruganandam along with Mr. Vinod Kumar, Kakolil Trade Agency and Mr. C P Sajeev, Port Industry was formally launched by the Member of Parliament Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma as the chief guest on the event of Engineer`s Day celebration
The device was formally displayed and a detailed presentation was given during the Engineer`s Day celebration on 15th September 2021 at Andaman and Lakshdweep Harbour Works conference hall. It was explained that the major components of the device is designed and fabricated in Andaman Island.
This Equipment could be manufactured in Andaman under the Atmanirbar Andaman Ahiyaan to meet the Atmanirbahr Bharat Abhyan scheme and the technology is available on free of cost for the interested to manufactures.
It would be a pride to our Islands if a medical device gets manufactured in our Islands under MAKE in India. Keeping in view of the past experience from the second wave of the COVID19 pandemic and the predicted Third wave, this Oxygen Concentrator would help in overcoming any shortage of oxygen supplies in these islands.
The initiative was appreciated by all dignitaries which is a proud moment for the people of these islands. The chief guest appreciated the team members for the contribution. A special appreciation to Dr. N Muruganandam, Scientist C, ICMR RMRC, who also worked as front line worker in two different pandemic ie., COVID19 pandemic and Swine-flu pandemic.
