Port Blair, Sept. 17: The District Health Society, South Andaman has been conducting the Active Tuberculosis Case finding (ATCF) campaign throughout the District since 2nd Sept. 2021 and the campaign will continue till 1st Nov. 2021, at various Health & Wellness Center and vaccination centers of the District.

As per the direction of Shri Suneel Anchipaka, Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, a team conducted two days Tuberculosis (TB) Active case finding survey cum COVID vaccination drive for migrant labours and auto drivers at Bathubasti, opposite Air force unit, on 15th & 16th Sept. 2021 to make sure all the TB suspect cases are identified, tested, followed up. In case, if any positive is found, treatment has to be initiated in order to achieve the goal of TB eradication by 2025. All together 374 laborers and auto drivers have been screened of which 3 suspects sample have been taken and 66 unvaccinated people have been vaccinated with COVID vaccine on the spot.

The DC (SA) once again urged the general public of South Andaman to cooperate with the field staff during the TB survey and if any, suspected cases may get it tested at nearest health centres to support hand with Administration to eliminate the Tuberculosis. DC added “Let’s join hands to eliminate TB and Covid.”
