He’s gone now, to the great beyond, but many years ago, as I returned from my walk, I used to find a slightly oldish man waiting for me, his back bent, body trembling with Parkinson's, but eyes staring eagerly at the gate. As soon as I entered, they lighted up; he tottered forward, grasped my hand and pressed, "Ouch!" I used to shout, "my fingers are broken! I'll tell all my readers you're to blame for no column today! Ouch!"

It’s been quite a long time I’ve not written anything for my dear young readers. So here I’m with lots of warm wishes for the ones appearing for their boards. The very first thing you should imbibe in yourselves is the thought that EXAMS are neither burden nor just a source of evaluation. Infact, exams are the means through which you can have an assessment of your overall knowledge acquired so far. EXAMINATIONS are neither a war between you and your parents, nor a battle between schools and tuitions but a competition with yourself. It is the assessment which updates you of your capability and position. The notable part about exams is that it is not only a tough task for students but also a difficult time for parents. Parents, especially the mothers undergo the most pressure during their children’s exams. They tend to be well prepared for the exams rather than the children themselves. Anyways they should also give their children enough space because there’s a lot of difference between the times when they appeared for their exams and today.

As I bid farewell to the masons, carpenters and electricians and the last of the construction workers after they had repaired my old house, in the process carrying away three lorry loads or more of debris, I walked wearily up to my terrace.

“Who are you?” I shouted a bit fearfully, as I looked at the band of also weary looking men who were leaving but not by the staircase.

As the might of superior American artillery rains on a heroic, yet poor, poverty-stricken billionaire, our battered countryman stands valiantly crying out to the world and fellow countrymen, not to buckle down under the unfair onslaught but rally their numbers and fight back against herculean colonists, bullying him into submission!

Not this, a scene from a Sharukh Khan blockbuster, but one, the very rich man tried to paint to thirteen billion much poorer people as he was allegedly disclosed, exposed and unveiled as a cheat and imposter!

Shankhpushpi

The flowers of this plant resembles the shape of a Shankha (Shell), giving the name Shankhpushpi (Convolvulus pluricaulis). It is believed that this majestic plant was brought on earth by Guru Shukkrachariar. He believed it to be a heavenly plant because of many spiritual beliefs associated with this beautiful flowering vine. It is known by many names like Aparajitha (one who is never defeated), Gokarna (shape of cow’s ear), Saukarnika (Good-natured), Sangu poo (shape of a conch) and Nilkanth (favorite flower of Shiva). We all have seen these flowers in blue or white color.
