Port Blair, Nov. 1: Mahatma Gandhi International School today organized an ‘anti-drug and clean Andaman initiative campaign’, which was flagged of by Secretary PBMC, Mr. Bali and joined by all Municipal council staff.

The Campaign was inaugurated by the Secretary by tying a red ribbon in the Tree of Pledges. He appreciated the school children for being part of Anti drug Campaign to kick out gutka, drugs, cigarettes, tambakku from Port Blair. 

Students of MGIS made a human chain around Gandhi statue to indicate there solidarity with the campaign.  A ‘Thank You’ march with banners and placards, by the students and staff of MGIS was conducted at Aberdeen Bazar near Gandhi statue.  Thank you cards were also distributed to the shopkeepers for not selling gutka and anti elements to the students and their friends.

Through this Campaign the students were successful in passing the message ‘Gutka Free Andamans Is Our Mission’.

The Member of Parliament, Shri. Bishnu Pad Ray also greeted the students and boosted their morale. The tiny tots of MGIS were thrilled and excited after meeting MP who mingled up with students for a short while.

The campaign concluded at Haddo Hindi Medium School were kids of MGIS shared their thoughts and mission with the students of Haddo School. With the help of such activities, MGIS shows that it always thinks for the betterment of the society.  The campaign was supported by PBMC and Gandhi global family.
