Port Blair, Feb 22: The Civil Service fraternity of Andaman & Nicobar Islands has strongly condemned the reprehensible verbal and physical assault on the Chief Secretary of Delhi by the elected representatives. “It is a shocking and deplorable act and has no place in civilized society. The edifice of governance is built on a harmonious relationship   between the elected wing and the civil service. The same has been gravely impaired. The shocking behavior of the elected representatives with the Head of the Civil Service, amounts to threat to life and physical safety of a public servant on duty and legal action should be meted out in its full measure to the perpetrators”, opined the fraternity in a communication to the media.

“The Civil service works tirelessly without fear or favour to carry forward the mandate of the constitution. These fundamentals have been shaken. We, the officers, posted at A&N Islands register our strong protest and stand in solidarity with the Civil Servants in Delhi. We also demand immediate legal action in its full measure against all persons involved in the violent and reprehensible act”, the fraternity said.
