Port Blair, Feb 25: ANIIDCO has provided a world class resort in Havelock through Taj Group. The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) – Taj Group has started operation of Taj Exotica Resorts & Spa at Havelock from 14th February 2018. Presently there are 50 villas in the 45 acres of land at Radhangar, Havelock and another 25 villas are under construction. The resort has taken inspiration from low-rise style of Jarawa huts and focus on blending luxury with local culture and design. The lobby built on stilts offers spectacular beach view and a 50 metres infinity swimming pool. The restaurant at the resort offer dishes inspired by the settlers and global grills including Indian, Italian and Mediterrian cuisine. Taj has set up onsite bottling plant eliminating the use of plastic bottles, a waste disposal system converting wet waste into gas and a sanitation treatment plant with the focus on sustainability to create minimum footprint on the natural ecosystem. In next two months the resort will be 100% free from plastic bottles etc. 

The land for setting up of the resort has been leased by ANIIDCO through a transparent tender process. As per the terms of the lease, ANIIDCO will get share in the gross revenue from the resort in addition to lease rental. The opening of the resort will not only boost tourism industry in the islands but will also provide direct and indirect employment to the local youth.
