Port Blair, Jan. 20: The 1^st round of Pulse Polio Immunization Programme in the entire A&N Islands today 20^th Jan. 2013. A total of 698 fixed booths were functioned. Arrangements were made to cover children at Bus Terminus, Harbours and in religious places. Besides above, arrangements were also made to cover the children travelling by Inter Island Vessels as well as at Veer Savarkar International Airport, Port Blair.

In the Islands more than 30828 children in the age group of 0-5 years were administered Polio vaccine on the first day itself, which includes Port Blair area: 6502 children and 923 children in Defence area. A total of 99.70% children have been covered, which will be followed by two days house to house visit on 21^st and 22^nd Jan 2013. Private practitioners in the islands were also actively involved in making the Pulse Polio Immunization a grand success.
