Port Blair, May 10: The Member of Parliament, A&N Islands, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma has taken up the matter relating to distribution of text books to the students in the rural area with the Secretary (Education), A&N Administration.

In a communication the MP said that in order to facilitate learning opportunity to the students, the department of education has initiated an alternative learning opportunity from their home through the local Doordarshan, Cable TV Network and All India Radio etc. which is accessible only for the students residing in the HQ area having TV network etc.  However, such facilities are not accessible for the students residing in many other Islands such as Swaraj Dweep, Saheed Dweep and also in the remote places in North & Middle Andaman and Southern Group of Islands due to poor networking. Many students do not having Cable TV Networks.

Since the summer vacation for the schools across the A&N Islands will commence from 18th May 2020 for two months, during this period these students would be become idle at home until they have been provided text books at their home delivery.

The MP therefore requested the Secretary (Education) that necessary arrangements may be done by the education department for distribution of text books to the students in rural area including Swaraj Dweep and Saheed Dweep at the earliest so as to enable these students to learn and prepare themselves during summer vacation at home.
