Port Blair, May 12: Since the beginning of the first lockdown, Pankh, an NGO has been offering its services in helping needy women specially mothers and children in different areas of Port Blair. After publishing the emergency contact no of Pankh in the local newspapers and Doordarshan for approaching it for any assistance during lockdown, numerous phone calls were received seeking help especially from daily wage workers and migrant labourers.

Responding to these phone calls Pankh reached out to these people from different areas like Nayagaon, Bargadhline, Garacharma (2/18, Abdul Kalam lane), Dairy farm & Haddo ward number 1&2 and distributed ration articles, milk, essential hygienic items like soap, detergent and masks.

On the occasion of Mother's day, Pankh reached out to the mothers in different areas and distributed milk and hygienic items and masks to ensure their safety and good health as they are the ones who take care of the family and many of them are frontline Corona warriors working to ensure our safety. On the occasion of Mother's day Pankh salutes all such women who have risked their lives to protect us from the deadly Corona virus. The President Pankh, Mrs.Komal Anand, Sec Smti Geetha Naveen Bhat, active member Mrs Maria Sheela and the entire Pankh family is committed towards serving the needy people during this Pandemic.
