Port Blair, May 19: The COVID-19 pandemic has redefined the paradigms of school education from classroom pedagogy towards developing self-reliance capabilities in our learners. In this scenario, the Department of Education, A & N Administration for the first time has released pre-school books for its pre-primary students (age 4+ yrs) and supplementary learning material cum practice workbooks for elementary classes from I to VIII.

These workbooks and its contents have been developed by harnessing local talent and is now being distributed at the doorstep of the students alongwith the new textbooks for the academic year 2020-21.

The Department through its Zonal Offices shall continue telecast of classes through Doordarshan, local cable television, radio and also circulation of digital content through home delivery of pendrives & CDs even during this summer vacation.

Meanwhile, the Food Security Allowance under the Mid Day Meal Scheme to all elementary school students will be extended for the entire period for which the schools were closed due to threat of spread of COVID-19 as well as for the summer vacation 2020. The door step delivery of raw foodgrain (rice) to students has been initiated across all educational zones of Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
