Port Blair, June 19: The School of Health Sciences of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has launched a new programme-Certificate Programme in Yoga (CPY). The Yoga programme is essentially a practice based on an extremely subtle science, which focuses on bringing harmony between mind, body and spirit. It is a very powerful means to achieve physical, mental and emotional well being. Yoga paves the way to discover the self, the external world and the nature.

It is an art and science for healthy living. Yoga has several benefits including education, health and stress management. After studying this six month yoga programme, the learner shall understand the basic principles and practice of yoga. The candidate will become aware about the history and the contribution of various Yoga in the field of Yoga and attain physical and mental health through Yoga.

The six month programme, in English Medium, consists of 16 credits with two theory courses namely: introduction to Yoga and Yogic texts and Yoga and Health and one Practical  course namely,    Shat Kriyas, Yogic Kriyas, Asanas, Pranayama, Mantra Japa  (Fee: Rs. 5,000/-). All +2 pass students from any recognized board (any stream) are eligible for Certificate Programme in Yoga.  Now the admission for July 2020 Academic session is open at IGNOU website: www.ignou.ac.in.
