Port Blair, July 10: To facilitate house wives, the Indira Gandhi National Open University provides health education related courses, namely, Certificate in Food and Nutrition (CFN), Certificate in Nutrition and Child Care (CNCC) and Diploma in Nutrition and Health Education (DNHE).

The objective of the courses is to educate the learner to know the role of food in ensuring healthy living of the individual, family and community. It focuses on food selection and preparation, economics of food, kitchen burdening, and nutrition diet for infancy to old age etc. Food and Nutrition (CFN) being a past-literacy level awareness programme, no formal qualification is required for admission. It is offered in English, Hindi, Assamese, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Punjabi, Tamil and Oriya. Languages.
