Port Blair, July 14: Due to growing transportation and congestion on road, the unexpected accidents are on higher side.  Drivers are to be trained to handle such exigencies, at critical situation, with confidence.

The Indira Gandhi National Open University educates the drivers through 6-months Certificate Course in First Aid (CFAID) and provides both theoretical and practical knowledge on First Aid. It aims at developing knowledge and skills, to enable the learners to provide first aid in various emergency situations. Tenth standard pass is the eligibility to join the course. IGNOU appeals to Tour and Travels Operators of ANI, to sponsor minimum one of their driver, to have First Aid Education from IGNOU. The total fee for CFAID is Rs.3000/-.
