Port Blair, Feb. 14: The Secretary (Agriculture/Animal Husbandry/Fisheries), Shri S.N. Misra was on a four-day visit to Middle & North Andamans from 9th to 12th February 2013.

During his visit, he interacted with the officers and staff of Agriculture Farm at Nimbudera, Mayabunder and Diglipur. He also inspected the cattle and poultry farms of the Animal Husbandry department. He was apprised of the various activities and on-going schemes being implemented by the department.

 

Further, the visit included inspecting the construction work of the Fish Landing centre carried out by Andaman Lakshdweep Harbour Works at Rangat, Mayabunder & Diglipur and the Cold Storage units of Fisheries Department at Diglipur. He also interacted with the local fishermen of these areas and heard their grievances.

During this visit, the Secretary (Agri) held meeting with the Deputy Commissioner (N&M Andaman). He also interacted with the PRI members and stake holders of the Farmers' Advisory Committee at Diglipur, Mayabunder, Rangat and Kadamtala.

At Diglipur and Baratang, the Secretary (Agri) visited farmers' field, interacted with the farmers to know their problems in implementing various programmes of the three line departments. Various suggestions were also evolved during the discussion. He also attended a Training programme organized by ATMA on "Organic recycling through Organic Manure Production i.e. Vermicomposting' at the Multipurpose Farm Keralapuram and interacted with the participants.
