Port Blair, Feb. 20: Two passengers travelling in ‘Go Air’ were detained at the Police Station, Aberdeen after the crew of the airlines suspected that the passengers were carrying explosives with them.

The incident took place on 19th Feb. 2013, when a group of 9 Jamat people from Jharkhand, who had come to the Islands were heading back to New Delhi via Kolkata. Soon after the security check, as the passengers were boarding the flight, the crew saw a small box being carried by a passenger. On enquiry, the two passengers of the Jamat group playfully uttered that they are carrying bomb.

The two were immediately held and handed over to the Police Station, where they have been detained. Upon enquiry it was revealed that the box in possession had in it beetle nuts and chewing tobacco (Paan).
