Port Blair, Feb. 21: Some confusion has been created about the use of tinted glasses in motor vehicles as reported in a local daily. In this regard the Director General of Police (I/c) has reiterated that the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in Writ Petition (Civil) No. 265 of 2011 has prohibited (27th April, 2012) the use of black films or any other material of any Visual Light Transmission (VLT) percentage upon the safety glasses, windscreens (front and rear) and side glasses of all vehicles.
All owners/drivers of motor vehicles are hereby advised to conform with these directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, the DGP said.
