It is brought to the notice of the consumers of Electricity Department, General public and Government Departments that presently the power position in Port Blair and South Andaman is quite sufficient to meet the peak demand and there is no need of rotational load shedding.

However, of late, it is noticed that the peak demand in the evening is gradually increasing. As all of us know, the Final/Board Exams are scheduled during March, April-2013 and the peak demand is further expected to rise after the onset of summer.

Hence we appeal to one and all, to consume electricity judiciously and stop using energy-intensive equipments indiscriminately especially during peak hours (05.00 PM to 10.00 PM) in order to restrict the peak demand thus avoiding any unexpected load shedding. Further, it is also requested to avoid use of decorative lightings in front of their Houses, Shops and Govt. Buildings especially during the peak hours. This is only to ensure that there is sufficient available power to the students preparing for their Board exams and they are not disturbed due to other people's avoidable power consumption.

This Press Note is issued just to control the energy demand for our children, and should not be considered as a general alarm. All are requested to stand with the department to conserve energy as much as possible, enabling the department to serve you better.
