Port Blair, Feb. 24: A three day skill development training programme on “Contract Management and Materials Management (Focus on APWD Conditions)” was organised for the APWD Engineers in association with ISDA, New Delhi, in the Training Hall of Engineer’s Office from Feb. 21st to 23rd, 2013.

The programme was inaugurated in a simple function by Er. P.K. Singh, Chief Engineer – cum – Secretary (PWD) on 21st Feb 2013. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Engineer asked the Engineers attending the training programme to avail of this opportunity for developing their skills in the field of Contract Management and Materials Management.  In all, 35 Engineers (SEs, EEs and AEs) have attended the training.

Eminent engineering personalities like Shri J.N. Bhawani Prasad, Retd. DG CPWD: Shri H.S. Dogrs, Retd. DG CPWD and Shri H.L. Chawla Course Director were the resource persons who enlightened the training programme with their valuable discussions, suggestions amalgamated with huge past experience.

BIS Codes, Specifications, Pre and Post Contract activities, Safety and Environment Managements, Dispute and their resolutions, High strength concrete, Self compacting and fibre reinforced concrete were some of the major subjects, which highlighted along with various other issues, in this training.

The valedictory session was graced by Smt. Punya Salila Srivastava, Commissioner (PW). In her address she expressed her happiness for organizing such valuable and refreshing training courses, by APWD. At the closing, the participants were awarded ‘Competency Certificates’ by the Commissioner (PW). The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Shri Arun Kumar, E.E.
