Port Blair, Feb. 25: In a series of crackdowns on gambling activities, the Aberdeen Police has arrested 35 persons and seized Rs. 1,63,320/- under A&N Islands Gambling Regulation, 1956.

The Anti-Burglary squad of PS Aberdeen headed by SHO PS Aberdeen Inspector D. Jagdishwar Rao busted the gambling rackets in South Andaman sub division.

In a blitzkrieg of raids conducted between 19th and 21st Feb. 2013, the Aberdeen Police not only apprehended 35 persons involved in gambling activities from gambling dens located at Buniyadabad, Atlanta Point, Central School Parking Place, Dignabad Sea Shore, Junglighat Fish Market and Marine Dockyard but also seized huge amount of board money.

The Anti-burglary squad comprised of ASI M Abdul Rasheed, HC Sanjay Kujur, HC Surya Narayan, PC Ashish Mallick, PC Rakesh Toppo, PC M Raja Rao and PC Kumaraswamy.

Police is keeping a strict vigil over anti-social and illegal activities in the islands.
