Port Blair, March 4: The training programme on ‘Fast Food, Hotel & Restaurant Management’ under Skill Development Training through Science & Technology (STST) concluded at its valedictory function held in the conference hall of Megapode Resort here this evening. The Principal Secretary & Managing Director ANIIDCO, Shri Jalaj Shrivastava was the chief guest while the Commissioner cum Secretary (Tourism), Smt. Punya Salila Srivastava graced the function as the guest of honour. Sponsored by the Department of Science & Technology, Ministry of Science & Technology, GoI New Delhi, the training programme was organized by Andaman & Nicobar Consultancy Centre(ANCON) Port Blair.

 

Addressing the gathering, the chief guest urged the trainees to utilize the skills they had gained during the training. He said that tourism industry is growing in the islands and the demand for well trained and skill man power is increasing, especially in hotel industries and hospitality. The employment opportunity in the sector is high and hence skill development programme are being made to meet the requirement, he said and advised them to provide the best service so as to gain recognition.

The chief guest also appreciated ANCON efforts in arranging the programme for the benefit of the unemployed youth and informed that the Administration is extending all supports in implementation of various schemes for creating employment opportunity to the educated unemployed youth, especially self employment.

The chief guest also distributed certificates to the successful trainees of the programme.

Smt. Punya Salila Srivastava, while speaking on the occasion said that the training programme opened a new opportunity to the youth to enhance their skill. She urged them to decide as to whether they should serve in the hotel industries or to set up their own unit and should provide the best service with smile.  

Er. Mohd. Pervaiz, General Manager ANIIDCO, Shri S. K Halder, Gen. Manager DIC and Shri DK Katara, Deputy Director MSME were among others who addressed the function.

Kum. A. Vennila, one of the trainees shared her experiences during the training and informed that she would prefer to set up her own unit.

In his welcome address, the Sr. Manager, ANCON, Er. Johnson Abraham highlighted the objectives of the programme and the role and responsibilities of the concerned programme implementing agencies in assisting the entrepreneurs right from the skill development training till their placement or till they set up their own units.

The function concluded with the vote of thanks, proposed by Shri A K Bhattacharjee, Advisor, ANCON. The programme was well anchored by  Shri Saikat Chakraborty, Associate Consultant, ANCON.
