Port Blair, March 15: The Member of Parliament, Shri Bishnu Pada Ray had raised the matter regarding payment of wages to the workers of M/s Andaman Timber Industries, A&N Islands during the Zero Hour in the parliament on 14th December 2012.
Now vide his DO dated 1st March 2013, Shri Mallikarjun Kharge, Minister of Labour & Employment, GOI stated that, “Since M/s Andaman Timber Industries, A&N Islands falls within the jurisdiction of Andaman & Nicobar Administration, which is the ‘appropriate government’ and vested with legal powers under Industrial disputes Act, 1947 to intervene/settle the grievances of workers, we have sought Report in the matter from the A&N Administration”
The Minister further stated that as soon as the Report is received from A&N Administration the same will be communicated.
