Translate the values learnt in the Play field into real life situations: CINCAN tells Soldiers

Port Blair, March 17: The Commander In Chief of the Andaman Nicobar Command Air Marshal P.K. Roy has called upon the officers and soldiers to translate the values they learn in the playfield into real life situations.

Addressing the gathering at the valedictory function of the ‘Carnic Premier League Cricket Tournament’ held at the Air Force Station ground Car Nicobar yesterday, he said that the players learn values like discipline, team work, commitment, hard work and perseverance in the play ground. He said that the soldier needs to work even harder when the goal appears to be near. Giving away the prizes to the players, Air Marshal asked them to keep themselves fit and to participate in the Sports Activities regularly.

Congratulating the Champion team, the Dazzling Dolphins, the Air Marshal appreciated the efforts of the Station Commander Rohit Mahajan, Group Captain P.E. Varghese and the entire unit for organizing the Night Cricket League in a most professional manner. He expressed happiness to see the fine coordination between the defence unit and the civil authorities.

Earlier in the exciting Final Match last night, the team of Dazzling Dolphins led by Wing Commander H. Pandit defeated Adm Avtaars by 4 wickets. Winning the toss the Adm opted for batting first and under the leadership of Group Captain P. E. Varghese and scored 50 runs in the allotted 10 overs by losing 9 wickets. Saurabh Sharma was the highest scorer for Adm.

For the Dolphins Vikas and Sirajuddin claimed 2 wickets each. In reply, the Dolphins reached the target in the last over with 4 wickets in hand. Jubilations started, the moment Raman scored the winning run.  It was a disappointed day for the Adm Avtaars team yesterday, which had won all its matches in the league round.

Om Prakash of the Carnic Kamikaze team was declared the best All-rounder of the CPL, whereas the prize for the best batsman was given to Vikas of Dazzling Dolphins. The best bowler award went to Anant of Adm Avtaars. The Carnic Kamkaze team got the third place, defeating the Royal Engineers MES. Total 8 teams from the defence establishments participated in this Carnic Premier League. This is the first time when a night Cricket league was organized in this district.

“The organizers deserve appreciation for taking initiative and executing it so professionally”, commented the Guest of Honour Shri Samuel Edward Kuchart, son of the legendary Ex-Captain of Kakana Late Shri Edward Kuchart, who had donated vast area of land to the Government for the construction of Runway years ago. The Commentary team of Shri Anil Bhadula, RS. Manhas, Sreedhar, Ranjan and Swaminathan too did justice with their jobs, and the audience enjoyed the running commentary of the matches. The representative of the Kakana Youth Group, Great heart said that Air Force Unit keeps good rapport with his Group members to conduct their social endeavors for the welfare of the Villagers, which is a positive attitude on the part of the Unit.

The Deputy Commissioner of the Nicobar District Shri P. Jawahar, Superintendent of Police Dr. B. Sreekant and the President of Defence Wives Welfare Association Mrs. Ranjana Roy were also present in the function.  The 15 days long Cricket Carnival concluded with the grand Community dinner.
