Port Blair, March 25: An incident of firing has taken place on Saturday evening (23rd March) in a Police Line quarter in which the son of an ASI apparently shot himself with the service revolver of his father when the family members were away. When his father and cousins returned home and found the house bolted from inside, they opened the door through a window and found the 22-year old Satnam Singh lying injured on the floor, with the revolver on his side. He was immediately evacuated in a PCR Ambulance to GB Pant Hospital where he later succumbed to injuries.

Police and Forensic Science teams inspected the spot immediately and completed necessary forensic procedures, including seizure of the revolver, some blood stained clothes etc. from the spot. Prima facie it appears to be a case of suicidal firing.

Inquest has been conducted by an Executive Magistrate and post mortem examination of the deceased has been done at GB Pant Hospital on Sunday (24th March). A case has been registered at PS Aberdeen in this regard and investigation is in progress.
