Port Blair, May 12: Heavy rain (7-24 cm) may occur at isolated places over Andaman & Nicobar Islands during next 48 hours & under the influence of cyclonic storm over Southeast Bay, strong East to South Andaman sea, strong East to Southeasterly wind speed 55 to 65 kmph gusting to 75 kmph and generally rough seas likely along and off Andaman & Nicobar Coast. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea. The general public have been advised to take precautionary measures and in case of any emergency contact in the following phone numbers of State Control Room, District Control Room and Emergency Operation Centre.

Owing to deep depression coupled with cyclonic storm in the Bay of Bengal and consequently view the safety of the passengers and the vessel, the Directorate of Shipping Services may be forced to suspend or cancel the announced schedule especially in the foreshore & inter-island sector. Further sailing programme of the announced schedule will depend upon daily weather situation. Similarly, the habour ferry services may also get affected due to adverse weather conditions resulting suspension of ferry services in short notice. In this connection, general public have been advised to plan their journey accordingly keeping in view the present weather situation for avoiding any inconvenience. The sailing of announced schedule will be confirmed one hour before the departure time of the vessel.
