Port Blair, June 2: Continuous rain for the last many days in the islands has disturbed the lives of the people, the situation becoming worse for the residents of North and Middle Andaman where most of the areas had submerged.

The Member of Parliament, Shri Bishnu Pada Ray after having visited the affected areas of the Middle Andaman today said that rains has made the lives miserable. The rain water has damaged the crops and vegetables of the farmers. Now the farmers are scared of the uncertain future of their families. Their only means of livelihood has been the Agricultural produce, which too has been destroyed in the rain.

He also said that rain water has entered into the shops and houses at many places, forcing people to take shelters in other places. There is flood like situation at many places.

The situation at the Phooltala village in Kadamtala Panchayat is very pitiable. Water from the adjacent hill has spread over the farm land and damaged the crops. In the absence of any proper drainage system, the water is still stagnated.

Explaining the crisis like situation in the islands, the MP has called upon the Administration to send a team to assess the situation in the district, and to make arrangement to provide appropriate compensation to the victims. He also requested to construct a bigger Culvert at Phooltala, ensuring that the water is not stagnated.
