Port Blair, June 3: The scene on the photograph is junk littered on the roadside at Prothrapur Village, South Andaman. It has become a nuisance for the road users, who are forced to risk their lives while crossing the narrow but congested road.

In this narrow stretch of road, establishment of a new residential colony has increased the number of vehicles to manifold, including heavy vehicles which rash drive on the road. To add to the risky situation the junk dealer, who’s tiny godown is overloaded round the year lets go the scrap to litter the road.

Unfortunate it is that the mess is just a furlong away from the Prothrapur Panchayat Office, where most of the awareness programmes organised by the Andaman Administration is held. On couple of occasions, even the Hon’ble Lt. Governor was present in the Panchayat as the chief guest.
