Port Blair, June 20: Feeling the sinking nerves of the members of the retrenched Part time teachers and pre-primary teachers etc.  who are running from pillar to pole for a secured future,

The PCC President Kuldeep Rai Sharma has written to the Lt. Governor for considering the re-appointment of the retrenched Part-time teachers and pre-primary teachers in the Education Department. In his letter Sharma wrote that the eight groups of Part-time teachers, Aayas, Sweepers etc. numbering 390 members who have rendered their sincere long services to the Education Department for upbringing the tiny tots have been removed again from their services on 5th April 2013.

Advocating for these helpless groups, Sharma briefed LG that most of these teachers are married and have children to look after apart from other members in the family. After being retrenched on 12th April, 2012, they were running from one door to other to get their grievances heard. The matter was brought to the notice of the Lt. Governor by the PCC President in July, 2012 and their case was considered by the Administrator. They were reappointed on 1st October, 2012 but to their ill fate, they are again put under retrenchment on 5th April, 2013 by the Education Department.

Detailing about the pathetic condition of the Groups, Sharma wrote that previously these 8 groups had 465 members but, some of them have been able to get jobs elsewhere, and at present they are 390.

Sharma has also placed in record that as per his information total 628 vacancies are available in Pre primary sections in Education department of the Administration and thus requested the LG to consider their long services by giving one time relaxation in their age, qualification etc. For rest 238 vacancies fresh candidates may be considered for appointment as per rules of the department.
